Aggravating Butthead Daniel Carcillo Banned Six Games For Cross-Check
Chicago Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo unleashed a late cross-check on Winnipeg's Mathieu Perreault Friday night, causing Perreault to leave the game early. Today, the NHL suspended Carcillo six games for the act.
The explanation is below. Carcillo had time after the whistle to not cross-check Perreault, but did it anyway. Since the hit, Perreault has been out with the arm injury, and could be absent through the All-Star break.
Carcillo didn't play in Sunday's game waiting for the ruling; the league will count that absence towards his suspension. He will also be fined $40,243.92.
This marks the 12th time the NHL has fined or suspended Carcillo in his career.
