Anthony Davis Explains The Difference Between His Team And Good Teams
[object Object] The New Orleans Pelicans started the season 0-8 despite having one of the very best basketball players in the world, Anthony Davis, on the roster. They improved a bit with the return of point guard Jrue Holiday, but they lost to a dreadful Mavericks team on Sunday and are now 6-12 on the season. Davis recently discussed his team’s slow start with ESPN’s Marc Stein, and accidentally dropped a brutal burn on his teammates in the process.
Here’s what Davis had to say about his team:
Some teams have whoever on their team where they’re able to do whatever they want on the floor. For us, we have to be blue-collar guys who are coming in, work, being scrappy, first to the floor, rebounding the ball, sharing the ball. That’s how we have to be. That’s how we’ve been the past couple weeks, and that’s how we’ve been able to get wins.
Let’s do a quick translation.
“Some teams have whoever on their team where they’re able to do whatever they want on the floor.” = “Some teams have players who are actually good.”
“For us, we have to be blue-collar guys who are coming in, work, being scrappy, first to the floor, rebounding the ball, sharing the ball.” = “We don’t have many players who are actually good.”
“That’s how we have to be. That’s how we’ve been the past couple weeks, and that’s how we’ve been able to get wins.” = “This is the big shit pile the front office has saddled me with, but I’m trying to make the best of it.”
Anthony Davis is averaging 31 points, 10 rebounds, and nearly three blocks per game. Someone help this man.
