Austin Jackson Pulled Off Field, Learns He's Been Traded
Just like Asdrubal Cabrera, Tigers outfielder Austin Jackson was reminded today that baseball is a business.
During the seventh inning of Detroit's day game against the White Sox, with Jackson playing in center field, general manager Dave Dombrowski rushed into the dugout to let Brad Ausmus know he needed to sub out the outfielder immediately. Dombrowski had shipped Jackson to the Mariners as part of a three-team trade for Rays pitcher David Price. Just like that, Rajai Davis ran out to replace him; Jackson ran in, said some goodbyes to teammates in the dugout, and began life as a Mariner.
The trade deadline can be so cold, man.
