Avalanche F Martin Necas signs 8-year extension

Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images Forward Martin Necas signed an eight-year contract extension with the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday.
Financial terms were not disclosed by the Avalanche, however TSN reported the deal was worth $92 million and includes $60.4 million in signing bonuses.
The extension spans through the 2033-34 season for Necas, who would have been an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Necas, who will turn 27 in January, bolted out of the blocks by compiling an eight-game point streak (six goals, six assists) to the start the season. He has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 11 games this season.
The Avalanche acquired Necas in the blockbuster three-team trade involving Mikko Rantanen with the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 24.
Necas has totaled 339 points (131 goals, 208 assists) over 452 career games with the Avalanche and Hurricanes. He was selected by Carolina with the 12th overall pick of the 2017 NHL Draft.
