Blues sign D Philip Broberg to six-year, $48 million deal

Mandatory Credit: Peter Creveling-Imagn Images The St. Louis Blues signed defenseman Philip Broberg to a six-year, $48 million extension through the 2031-32 season Saturday.
Broberg, 24, is in his second season with the Blues. He was slated to become a restricted free agent July 1.
Broberg has 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 71 blocked shots in 45 games this season. The Swede is averaging a team-best 23:18 of ice time this season among skaters and has drawn just six penalty minutes.
Last season, he established career highs of 29 points, 21 assists, eight goals, 103 blocks and 68 games.
Broberg spent three seasons with the Edmonton Oilers before joining the Blues as a restricted free agent prior to the 2024-25 season.
Overall, Broberg has 12 goals and 56 points in 194 career NHL games. He also has three goals and two assists in 27 playoff games.
Broberg recently was named to Team Sweden's roster for the upcoming Winter Olympic Games.
