Cool New Baseball Strategy: Have Two Guys Cover First At The Same Time
Oh, so your baseball team uses defensive shifts? They sometimes put the shortstop on the other side of the infield when a lefty is at the plate? Wow. Cool. How revolutionary.
I’m sorry being dismissive. It’s just that whoever manages your lil’ baseball team has a lot of catching up to do, because the Colorado Rockies just changed the whole game (mobile users turn phone sideways or click here to see video):
See, most teams are content to have one guy cover first base, but the Rockies are the first team brave enough to ask the question, “Hey, what if we actually had two guys cover the base?” I mean, wow. Talk about disrupting the defensive-alignment space. Don’t even try to talk to me about how this play didn’t work out for the Rockies; true innovation is born from the journey, not the destination. I read that in a book. You should check it out some time.
