Cowboys Player Under Investigation In Alleged Sexual Assault Case
Dallas Cowboys special teams player C.J. Spillman is under investigation in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred in a Texas hotel on Sept. 20.
According to police, the alleged incident happened at the Gaylord Hotel, where many Cowboys players were staying the day before they flew to St. Louis to play the Rams. The police department handling the case hasn't released many details, but did give a statement to the New York Daily News:
"We have a sexual assault report we are investigating at this time, and it does involve C.J. Spillman," said Sgt. Robert Eberling, a police spokesman. "He is involved in the investigation. We are looking into the matter."
This news comes after attorney Gloria Allred sent a letter to the NFL last Friday, claiming that an unnamed NFL player had been allowed to play in a game on Sept. 21 despite having been accused of rape by Allred's client the previous day. At the time, Allred did not name the player, but now it's pretty clear that Spillman is who she was referring to.
