David Ortiz Clobbers 500th Home Run Of His Career
David Ortiz became the 27th member of the 500 home run club Saturday night, belting a solo shot off of Matt Moore in the 5th inning to right field.
He hit his 499th in the same game, in the top of the first.
Ortiz’s 500th was the 48th home run he’s hit off of the Rays in his career, second only behind the 59 he’s hit off of the Blue Jays. The next player on the list for him to catch is Oriole great Eddie Murray, who hit 504.
