Donovan McNabb Will Retire As An Eagle
McNabb, the greatest QB the franchise has ever known, will sign a one-day contract to retire as an Eagle at a ceremony in Week 3. In town that week? The Chiefs, and McNabb's longtime coach Andy Reid.
The Eagles are staying mum, but McNabb r evealed the plans during a radio interview in Syracuse yesterday, saying, "I will retire as an Eagle and I look forward to that opportunity and that day."
This is the point when everyone pretends many Philly fans didn't boo McNabb, or call for him to be run out of town, or blame him for puking up a Super Bowl. But that was just business, and McNabb's not mad:
"There was never any animosity from the Philly fans. The handful of fans that are the ones that are kind of being seen, they're not a high percentage of fans who truly appreciate what you were able to do while you were there. I have nothing but love for the Philly fans, even the ones who were highly criticizing me or opinionated in any way. I can't get upset at them because my job is to get out on the field and be productive."
Maybe the Eagles will also take the occasion to retire Andy Reid's utility belt, which made all this possible.
