Vasquez-Imagn Images Veteran goaltender Petr Mrazek had hip surgery and will miss the remainder of the Anaheim Ducks' season, the team announced Wednesday.
Sidelined since early January, Mrazek compiled a 3-5-0 record and a 4.07 goals-against average over 10 games in his first year with the Ducks. His .858 save percentage, a significant career worst, ranks second-last in the NHL among qualified goalies.
Mrazek, 34, is a pending unrestricted free agent.
Anaheim acquired him last June in the trade that sent John Gibson to the Detroit Red Wings so that he could back up countryman Lukas Dostal, Czechia's starter at the Milan Cortina Olympics.
Mrazek was a fifth-round draft pick in 2010 and owns a career .905 save percentage in 438 games (405 starts) with six teams.
The Ducks occupy the Western Conference's second and final wild-card spot. They continue a nine-game homestand that began before the Olympic break next Wednesday against the Edmonton Oilers.
