Falcons, MongolZ move to semis at IEM Melbourne

Jordan Woodruff Team Falcons and The MongolZ won on Friday to advance to the semifinals in the $300,000 Intel Extreme Masters Melbourne 2025 event in Australia.
Falcons swept GamerLegion in convincing fashion with a 13-3 win on Train and a 13-4 triumph on Nuke. Their semifinal opponent Saturday is MOUZ, who won the Group A upper-bracket final on Wednesday.
The MongolZ had a tougher time in their quarterfinal clash with Team Liquid in the Counter-Strike 2 competition.
Liquid opened with a 13-5 win on Anubis before The MongolZ responded with a 13-6 win on Ancient and a 13-10 triumph on Inferno. They moved to Saturday's semifinal versus Team Vitality, who won the Group B upper-bracket final on Wednesday.
The top three teams from each group advanced to the single-elimination playoffs, which began Friday. All matches are best-of-three until Sunday's best-of-five grand final, with the winner earning $125,000.
