Giants club 3 homers to beat Rangers in series opener

Mandatory Credit: Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports Michael Conforto hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning and Wilmer Flores smacked a pair of solo shots as the San Francisco Giants knocked off the Texas Rangers 5-2 to open a three-game series in Arlington, Texas, on Friday night.
It was the ninth multi-homer game of Flores' career. Heliot Ramos went 3-for-5 with an RBI and Matt Chapman extended his on-base streak to 24 games with a single, two walks and a run for San Francisco, which won its second straight game.
Logan Webb (5-5) picked up the victory after surrendering two runs on five hits over seven innings. He didn't walk a batter and struck out six. Camilo Doval pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his 10th save in 12 opportunities.
Ezequiel Duran went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Texas, which lost for the third time in four games. David Robertson (2-3) took the loss, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.
San Francisco took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Flores just cleared the fence in left-center, the first earned run allowed by Texas starter Michael Lorenzen in 12 1/3 innings.
Flores then made it 2-0 in the fourth when he led off with his third homer in two games and fourth of the year, a 387-foot drive to left.
Texas rallied to tie it 2-2 in the fifth. Nathaniel Lowe led off with a single, advanced to third on a hustle double to center by Wyatt Langford and scored on a sacrifice fly by Robbie Grossman. Duran then singled home Langford.
San Francisco regained the lead with two runs in the seventh against Robertson. Chapman walked with one out and Conforto followed with his eighth home run, a 404-foot drive over the bullpen in right-center.
The Giants extended the lead to 5-2 in the eighth when Thairo Estrada led off with a single, advanced to second on a walk to Brett Wisely and scored on a single by Ramos.
