Houston Is Destroying Fifth-Ranked Louisville Thanks To Some Insane Plays
Photo credit: Eric Smith/ [object Object] Louisville came into this evening’s game with Houston with a decent chance of making the playoff. Even if Alabama and Clemson win out, all they had to do was win out and inevitably leapfrog the loser of the Ohio State-Michigan game. Instead, they are in the process of getting turned into jelly by the Cougars, who hold a 31-0 halftime lead.
The trouble started immediately for Louisville, as they fumbled the opening kickoff, then allowed a touchdown on the very next play. Houston has held star QB Lamar Jackson, the unquestioned Heisman favorite heading into the game, to 92 limp yards.
The Houston offense, on the other hand, went wild and scored on a series of outlandish plays, such as this tipped touchdown.
They set up that touchdown by executing a perfect fake punt and extending their drive.
They scored the final touchdown of the first half with a 50-yard double pass.
Jackson found some rhythm and drove Louisville all the way to Houston’s 31-yard-line late in the second half. However, that drive also ended in disappointment, as they turned it over on downs.
