Kam Chancellor Tries To Buy A Gym, Gets Cops Called On Him
Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor had a friendly chat with police officers last night, after they were called by gym employees to investigate some men they believed were trying to gain entry to the closed building. But Kam just wanted to buy the place.
It was a misunderstanding, the Redmond (Wash.) PD’s public information officer told us over the phone last night. The gym permenantly closed earlier this week, and Chancellor, who runs fitness boot camps for women, went to get more information. Despite the building being closed, there were two young female employees still inside. Chancellor and four friends “rattled the windows” to get their attention—he said he was just looking to get a phone number for the business owner.
From the police statement:
On March 2nd, 2016 at 4:25pm, Redmond Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a local gym. Two female employees were inside the closed facility alone and reported that five adults were outside their facility, some were pounding on the door and looking in the windows with cameras, as if they were trying to gain entry. The employees reported they weren’t exactly sure what was going on, but the individuals did not appear to be leaving, even though the gym was closed for business.
The PIO, who said police instruct local businesses to err on the side of calling 911 when they’re unsure, told us:
“Our officers got there and had a great interaction with Kam and four other guys. Super positive. Super nice guy. We didn’t even do a police report.”
Chancellor recounted the events on his Twitter:
