Kendall Marshall's Dad Thinks The Sixers Are Racist And A Joke
Veteran point guard Kendall Marshall recently joined the Philadelphia 76ers’ active roster after recovering from an offseason knee surgery. At the time of Marshall’s return, GM Sam Hinkie put forward a theory that the team would have gotten off to a much better start had Marshall’s steady hand been available all season. Marshall took the floor for the first time on Dec. 11, and has since averaged four points and four assists per game while playing 16 minutes a night. Head coach Brett Brown has kept Marshall on the bench for entire games, and now Marshall’s dad is upset.
These tweets were sent by Marshall’s father during the Sixers 130-99 loss to the Clippers on Saturday night (via Reddit):
The tweet about the “shooter” who is only hitting 27 percent of his shots from deep is an obvious dig at Nik Stauskas, and the allegation of racism probably has something to do with the fact that point guard T.J. McConnell, a white guy, has been getting more minutes than Marshall.
Dennis Marshall later apologized and deleted his account, but Kendall still had to answer questions about his dad’s tantrum after last night’s game. From ESPN:
“That’s not coming out of my mouth. That’s not my social media,” he said. “He’s a grown man. It was obviously the wrong time and place to say it, but he said it. He’s apologized for it since.”
[...]
“Me and him, we go at it sometimes,” Kendall Marshall said. “He knows he was wrong. He apologized for it. Coach already told me that he understands it has nothing to do with me. We’re good now.”
Meanwhile, Jahlil Okafor’s father was overheard heckling Brett Brown from the stands during that same game against the Clippers:
It’s good to see these parents carrying on the legacy of K.J. McDaniels’s mom.
