Kombucha Defense Fails To Spare Michael Floyd From Suspension

Photo: [object Object] The NFL announced Friday that Vikings receiver and kombucha enthusiast Michael Floyd has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2017 NFL season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Floyd and the Vikings maintained that Floyd’s elevated blood alcohol level, which violated the terms of his house arrest stemming from an “extreme DUI” arrest in Scottsdale, Arizona, was caused by high-test kombucha kept on tap at Minnesota’s team headquarters. This explanation was apparently not good enough for the NFL, who hit him with a suspension double the minimum described by league policy.
Correction: Floyd’s suspension is not for the house arrest violation that prompted the kombucha talk, but for the “extreme DUI” arrest in December.
