Louisville And Cincinnati Swap Lead Three Times In Final 30 Seconds
After Cincinnati (7) went on a 10-0 run in the last four minutes to get themselves back in it against Louisville (11), the lead changed three times in the final 30 seconds. Thanks to Russ Smith, the Cardinals were on the right end of the eeny-meeny-miny-moe finish and won 58-57.
After two Troy Caupain free throws gave Cincy a one-point lead, Smith hit the final shot—"a cold-blooded deuce," according to Kevin Harlan—to snatch the lead back with 2.2 seconds left. It was so dramatic, that the referee had to whip Rick Pitino off the court and back to the bench where he promptly knocked down one of his assistants.
Cincinnati did not have any timeouts and could not inbound the ball cleanly after the shot and the clock ran out.
