Oklahoma Freshman Joe Mixon Suspended For The Season
Highly touted freshman tailback Joe Mixon has been suspended from Oklahoma football for the entire season after he was charged by prosecutors for punching a woman and leaving her unconscious in a Norman restaurant.
Oklahoma released the following statement today.
Oklahoma already had been keeping him out of team activities since a few days after the incident, which left Amelia Molitor with four broken bones in her face. Prosecutors announced the charge against Mixon—one misdemeanor count of acts resulting in gross injury—on Friday.
But don't get too excited about Oklahoma suddenly taking a hard stance on violence against women. This is the same school that reportedly is trying to get permission for Dorial Green-Beckham to play for them this season. You know, the guy who got kicked off Missouri's team after allegedly forcing his way into an apartment while trying to find his girlfriend and pushing someone down several stairs. Green-Beckham wasn't charged after the victim said she didn't want to press charges because she feared the backlash from the community.
