Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The Philadelphia Phillies activated shortstop Trea Turner from the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's regular-season finale against the visiting Minnesota Twins.
The move hardly is a surprise, as manager Rob Thomson spilled the beans on Saturday. Thomson also said Turner is not expected to play the full game as he competes for the first time since Sept. 7 after sustaining a right hamstring strain.
Turner is batting in the leadoff position for the Phillies (95-66), who already have clinched the National League East and are locked into the No. 2 seed.
This season, Turner has 15 home runs, 69 RBIs and 36 stolen bases in 140 games. His .305 batting average leads the National League, and his 179 hits trail only Luis Arraez of the San Diego Padres (181).
Also on Sunday, Philadelphia optioned right-hander Max Lazar to the Florida Completed League Phillies.
