Mandatory Credit: Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey will miss the start of the upcoming regular season after undergoing an arthroscopic knee procedure to relieve discomfort, the team announced Thursday.
Per the team, Ivey will begin the rehabilitation process immediately and will be re-evaluated in four weeks.
Ivey, 23, was in the middle of a career-best year in his third season with Detroit before he sustained a season-ending fractured fibula in January. The team specified this setback is not related to that injury.
Over 30 games last season, Ivey set new career-high averages of 17.6 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting a career-best 46% from the floor and 40.9% from 3-point range.
Ivey is entering the final season of his 4-year, $32.9 million rookie contract after the Pistons drafted him fifth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was a consensus second team All-American for Purdue in 2021-22.
