Mandatory Credit: Jamie Sabau-USA TODAY Sports Anderson Julio helped Real Salt Lake break through late in the first half on the way to defeating the visiting New England Revolution 2-0 on Saturday night in Sandy, Utah.
Julio's goal in first-half extra time and Philip Quinton's first RSL tally early in the second half were enough to spark an offense that had cooled off in recent matches.
Real Salt Lake (13-6-8, 47 points) had been blanked by San Jose a week ago as the team tries to adjust to personnel and roster alterations.
Gavin Beavers, a 19-year-old goalkeeper for Real Salt Lake, notched his third clean sheet by making two saves.
New England (8-15-2, 26 points) couldn't duplicate the type of performance that led to a 5-0 victory against CF Montreal a week earlier. Aljaz Ivacic made eight saves.
Real Salt Lake generated 20 shot attempts, but it was a New England blunder that led to the first goal of the match.
Julio intercepted a New England back pass and moved into position to convert off that turnover. Ivacic had no chance to make a stop after the out-of-balance sequence.
Julio's seventh goal of the season ended his seven-match streak without a goal. Julio is one goal off his career-high mark for goals set in 2021.
Braian Ojeda assisted on Quinton's goal.
