Report: Baylor Also Involved In Run-Of-The-Mill Recruiting Scandal
Photo credit: Ronald Martinez/ [object Object] Baylor has spent the past year embroiled in a huge sexual assault scandal, but according to a report from ESPN, they’re also facing possible infractions over recruiting violations. Offensive coordinator Kendal Briles (son of deposed former head coach Art) went to the NCAA’s Indianapolis headquarters yesterday to answer for his role in the alleged violations.
The violations apparently have nothing to do with the ongoing fallout from Baylor’s sexual assault:
Briles’ violations included improper contact with a recruit. Baylor officials are attempting to get the level of infractions reduced, a source said. Specific details about the alleged violations weren’t immediately known.
Briles’ meeting with NCAA officials came the day before his 34th birthday. A source said the NCAA investigation is not related to the school’s ongoing sexual-assault scandal.
This is not Briles’s first brush with recruiting trouble. He was suspended for the first game of the 2015 season for having contact with a recruit outside of the allowed recruiting period.
