Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images The Washington Commanders are signing former first-round draft pick Treylon Burks to their 53-man roster, NFL Network reported on Tuesday.
Burks, a wide receiver, signed with the Commanders on Oct. 17 and was sent to the practice squad after being released from injured reserve last month by the Tennessee Titans.
Burks had one catch for 14 yards after being elevated to play in Sunday's 38-14 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Washington is dealing with numerous injuries at the wide receiver position, including Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) and Luke McCaffrey (collarbone). McLaurin is considered doubtful to play this Sunday against the Detroit Lions, while McCaffrey is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season. Washington placed McCaffrey and cornerback Marshon Latttimore (torn ACL) on injured reserve on Tuesday afternoon, joining receiver Noah Brown (groin) and others.
Burks, 25, has struggled since being selected by the Tennessee Titans with the 18th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Arkansas. The Titans acquired that pick from Philadelphia after they traded wideout A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Burks was waived by Tennessee on July 28, two days after he sustained a fractured collarbone during practice.
Injuries are nothing new for Burks, who missed a total of 12 games over his first two seasons before sitting out the final 12 games of the 2024 campaign with a torn ACL.
Burks has 54 catches for 713 yards and one touchdown in 28 career games (17 starts) with the Titans and Commanders.
