Report: Texans S Jaylen Reed broke metal plate in arm
Houston Texans safety Jaylen Reed (23) is helped off the field following an injury Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, during a game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Texans safety Jaylen Reed will need surgery after breaking a metal plate in his forearm during Sunday's win in Indianapolis, Houston's KPRC 2 reported.
The rookie sixth-round draft pick likely is headed to injured reserve, meaning he would miss at least four games for the Texans (7-5).
Reed, 22, made his first NFL start in Sunday's 20-16 victory against the Colts (8-4) and recorded two tackles before leaving with the injury.
He was elevated to the starting lineup after racking up 12 tackles and a fumble recovery in the 23-19 win against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 20.
Reed, who had the plate inserted in his arm while at Penn State, missed the first five games of the season with a knee injury sustained during training camp. He has 14 tackles in seven games.
Reed addressed his injury in a social media post after Sunday's game.
"Sometimes, you tend to ask God why me? But when your faith is bigger than anything (in) this world, you don't question anything. I know my journey is going to be a great one. I won't panic, worry or stress about anything as long as my faith is with God. I got everything out the mud to get here and that won't stop for nothing," he posted on Instagram.
"I got hurt two times in one year as a rookie while still going sixth round. And after all that, I'm still beating the odds. It's tuff mentally and it gets hard sometimes, but adversity is something we all have to overcome to get to the Highest. 23 a be back soon."
