Seahawks Choose To Run This Time With Game On The Line, Still Lose
The Seahawks lost a wild one in overtime in St. Louis today. Nick Foles took the field for the first time as a Ram and he was very solid with 297 yards and touchdowns via air and ground, but the truly remarkable part of the game was the *fart noise* that was the Seahawks’ overtime effort.
St. Louis only got to play an extra period because Dion Bailey, who started at safety to replace the still holding out Kam Chancellor, gave up a 37-yard touchdown to Lance Kendricks near the death of the fourth quarter.
Then, Pete Carroll decided (or maybe it was an accident?) to open overtime with an onside kick. Either way, It looked like it might have been called back for a rare improper fair catch call, but Steven Hauschka didn’t properly spike it into the dirt, so the Rams got some great field position. After a field goal, Russell Wilson had an opportunity to go for the win he predicted yesterday.
Just like last year’s Super Bowl, Seattle needed to gain just one small yard, facing a fourth-and-1 from the St. Louis 42. And just like last year, they shat the bed. This time, however, at least they gave it to Marshawn Lynch. Unfortunately for them, they handed it off out of the shotgun and St. Louis’ impressive front seven easily swarmed around him.
Hey, at least Seattle has fun-as-hell Tyler Lockett to score special teams touchdowns!
