Sidney Crosby Has A Concussion
Photo: Bruce Bennett/ [object Object] Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby has been diagnosed with a concussion, the team announced today.
The Penguins held Crosby out of their final preseason game Saturday; head coach Mike Sullivan said Crosby was scratched due to an illness. Crosby hadn’t played in any of Pittsburgh’s other preseason games, after leading Team Canada to the World Cup of Hockey.
It’s unclear when Crosby suffered the head injury, but it was either during practice or weeks ago at the World Cup, neither of which would be good news for a player who has missed significant time in his career with concussions.
Update (1:34 p.m. ET): Sullivan said that Crosby suffered the concussion during Friday’s practice.
The defending Cup champ Penguins open the regular season at home against the Capitals on Thursday.
