The U.S. Avenged Its Jamaica Loss Before A Raucous Columbus Crowd, And Clint Dempsey Made A Bitchface For The Ages
Desperately needing a win after dropping the ball in Jamaica last week, the U.S. Men's National Team rode the wave of a rowdy crowd in Columbus to eke out a 1-0 World Cup qualifier win last night, though not without a bit of struggling.
Despite dominating the match, a Herculez Gomez free kick after a foul on Clint Dempsey in the 55th minute would be the only scoring. Several first half chances were missed by the American side, the most notable a gorgeous Danny Williams shot that ricocheted off the post. With stars Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley out of the lineup, the pressure was on a U.S. team that has lacked fire in some previous appearances this year.
Willing to provide that fire, it seems, is Clint Dempsey. Deuce has yet to suit up for new Premiership squad Tottenham Hotspur, but his game face (as it were) was more than ready—as he showed one Jamaican player after a hard foul last night.
