The Uzbekistani U-22 Team Is Insanely Violent
The King's Cup is a weird friendly tournament among a bunch of random teams that takes place annually—except for the years when it does not take place at all—in Thailand. Uzbekistan and South Korea's under-22 teams met on the first day of this year's competition, and the game ended in a 1-0 win for South Korea. But the real story here is how goddamn violent the Uzbekistanis were.
The challenge above, where the Uzbekistani player attempted an even more violent Nigel de Jong impression, earned a red card. And then there was this just a few minutes later:
That poor South Korean player didn't even do anything, he was just sort of nearby where a couple of players were scrapping for the ball! Unsurprisingly, this Uzbekistani player was also given a red card.
Here are some highlights from the game, including the lone goal and another violent tackle that got an Uzbekistani player a yellow card.
