Tigers, RHP Kyle Finnegan finalize 2-year, $19M contract

The Tigers announced Saturday that Finnegan will receive a base salary of $8.75 million during the 2026 season and $8 million in 2027. The deal also includes a mutual option for 2028 at $10 million with a $2.25 million buyout.
Finnegan, 34, is eligible for performance bonuses of $125,000 in each year for 40, 45, 50 and 55 games played.
Finnegan, who was born in Detroit, posted a 4-4 record with 24 saves and a 3.47 ERA in 56 relief appearances last season split between the Washington Nationals and Tigers.
Detroit acquired Finnegan from Washington on July 31 in exchange for pitching prospects Josh Randall and R.J. Sales.
An All-Star in 2024, Finnegan is 26-30 with 112 saves and a 3.55 ERA in 347 career games (zero starts) since making his MLB debut with Washington in 2020. The right-hander has struck out 343 batters in 347 1/3 innings.
In six postseason games with the Tigers in 2025, Finnegan was 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA. He allowed three runs in 7 1/3 innings.
