U.S. Soccer Announces Bruce Arena As New USMNT Manager
Photo credit: Kevork Djansezian/ [object Object] Just a day after firing Jurgen Klinsmann, U.S. Soccer has already come to an agreement with his successor, and it’s exactly who everyone knew it would be. Bruce Arena is once again the USMNT manager.
This hire kind of sucks (I can see passing up on Drew Magary for the role, but passing over Marcelo Bielsa???), but it’s probably safe, and that’s not nothing right now. Arena was pretty good in his first tenure, if in the staid way that we need to advance past if we want to really be a force in this sport. This is likely a stopgap move until after the 2018 World Cup, and hopefully the U.S. can get someone better then. We’ll see what happens, though. Let’s hope for the best.
