USA-Belgium Pitch Invader Jumped Out Of Wheelchair
The fellow who disrupted play during yesterday's USA-Belgium found an ingenious way to get so close to the pitch—he had a wheelchair in a spot meant for the disabled.
He is not the first wheelchair-bound fan to be suspiciously healed at this World Cup, nor the first to storm a field. But this Italian fan is an especially familiar face in international soccer. Mario Ferri has been doing this for years, "either in the name of activism or for his own seemingly unending amusement." Yesterday seems like a little bit of both—Ferri was wearing a shirt reading "Save favelas children."
