Warriors Heroically Overcome Jeff Green, George Hill, & Rodney Hood To Claim NBA Title
Despite facing a Cavaliers superteam of NBA legends like José Calderón, Cedi Osman, and George Hill, the Golden State Warriors fought their way past the odds to claim their third league title in the past four years and their sixth overall with a 108-85 win.
Stephen Curry paced his team with 37 points in the decisive fourth game of the series, while Kevin Durant claimed his second-straight Finals MVP award despite going an embarrassing 0-3 from three-point range in the game. Kyle Korver displayed exceptional grit in the losing effort, missing all six of his shots from the field and managing to commit as many fouls as he had points, a feat matched by two of his teammates in the game—another example of the exceptional teamwork against which Golden State had to battle.
Joe Lacob claimed his third Larry O’Brien Trophy of his ownership period; it is unclear if he plans to resume his romantic relationship with the golden relic.
