White Sox Pitcher Gives Up First Career Dingers To Three A's Rookies
Photo: [object Object] James Shields took the mound today for the sad-sack White Sox, and in the course of pitching three brutal innings gave up a two-run dinger to Matt Olson, another two-run dinger to Franklin Barreto, and a solo dong to Jaycob Brugman. Olson, Barreto, and Brugman are rookies. It’s wild enough to give up three homers in three innings to three rookies, but those were all first career dingers!
Enjoy the dingers:
This appears to have been a first in MLB history:
John Potts, Duke Kenworthy, and Art Kruger all hit their first career homers for the Kansas City Packers in the same game, back in 1914, but off of two different pitchers. It’s a weird record, but it belongs now to James Shields.
The A’s lead the White Sox 8-2 in the sixth inning.
